

Following a career of 40 years as water treatment specialist, both in the industry as well as with a complete system supplier, Leo Habets is since several years available as independent advisor for companies that face waste water and process water challenges.
In the seventies he studied at Wageningen University with focus on waste water treatment and was part of the team that developed the technology of how to grow granular biomass for anaerobic treatment.

First job was water treatment specialist with a Dutch Paper Group, where he initiated the worldwide first 3 full scale anaerobic upflow reactors on paper mill effluent.
During the years at Paques BV more than 300 effluent treatment plants were designed and delivered in the P&P industry all over the world. Among them 5 succesfull zero discharge projects based on his ideas.

Leo did more than 40 publications on Pulp & Paper effluent projects, gave numorous presentations, trainings and lectures and was the company patent manager for 25 years.
Besides al water business activity he developed a liquid fertilizer product from the elemental Sulphur deposit from biogas desulphurization and launched the product (Fertipaq) succesfully into the agricultural market.
